Women's Monthly Ratings: December 2023

UPDATES

Boxers are ranked according to ability and accomplishments in their respective weight classes. Fighters may be removed if they have been inactive for over 18 months and still have no fights scheduled.

Lineal Boxing Champion’s long-standing, independent, non-computerised, monthly divisional ratings, began on April 6th, 2019 – at this time, no such ratings existed in women’s professional boxing.

The international panel that produces the ratings, consists of ten boxing analysts, from nine different countries.

Junior Featherweight

Erika Cruz (now #3) switches places with Mayerlin Rivas (now #5) after beating the Venezuelan by majority decision on November 18.

Junior Welterweight

Katie Taylor dethroned Chantelle Cameron, beating the Englishwoman by majority decision on November 25, to become the new Lineal Junior Welterweight World Champion. Mary McGee (previously rated at #1), who last fought in January and recently had a baby, exits the ratings, and is replaced by Chantelle Cameron.

Junior Middleweight

Ema Kozin who outpointed Hannah Rankin by split decision on November 18 (winning the vacant WBO/WBC belts), enters at #4. Spencer drops to #5 and Patricia Berghult exits.

Pound-for-Pound

The vote amongst the panel was not unanimous, but Katie Taylor replaces Claressa Shields at the top of the pound-for-pound rankings,  after her Lineal Championship & Undisputed winning fight against Chantelle Cameron at 140lb. Katie Taylor now has four victories over three women in the current pound-for-pound top-10, the latest of these coming against a younger, taller, undefeated fighter in a higher weight class; credentials no other fighter comes anywhere close to matching.
