Women's Monthly Rankings: June 2022

UPDATES

* The Lineal Boxing Champion monthly ratings are produced by an international panel of 10 boxing analysts. Boxers are ranked according to ability and accomplishments in their respective weight classes. When our ratings began in April 2019 (the first non-computerised monthly rankings to have ever been produced in women’s boxing), fighters who had been inactive for 12 months, with still no fights scheduled, were removed from the ratings. As the 2020-21 pandemic severely interfered with the boxing schedule for approximately one year, it seems only fair to lengthen our inactivity rule to 24 months. By the middle of 2022, the inactivity rule will once again return to 12 months.

Flyweight

Kenia Enriquez was back in action on May 28th, after over two years away from the ring, knocking out Gabriela Saavedra in rounbd 10. The highly experienced Mexican defeated the likes of Maria Salinas and Jessica Plata back in 2017 and hasn’t lost a fight since 2015. Enriquez enters at #4, pushing Salinas to #5, and nudging Leonela Ludica out of the ratings.

Junior Featherweight

Segolene Lefebvre outpointed Melania Sorroche on May 7th, and so moves to #2, switching places with Yamlieth Mercado who drops to #3. Nazarena Romero’s inactivity at the weight, with still no fight scheduled, means she exits the top five. Cherneka Johnson climbs to #4, and Ellie Scotney, who defeated Jorgelina Guanini in February, enters at #5 following her convincing May 21st win over the rugged, Maria Roman.

Featherweight

Brenda Carabajal takes Debora Dionicius’s place at #5, after defeating the Argentine via a 10-round majority decision on May 13th. Nina Meinke exits the ratings.

Middleweight

Christina Hammer who has had her last three bouts at 168lbs, exits the ratings, meaning Kozin, Cornejo and Hermans each move up a place. South Africa’s Mapule Ngubane won a 10-round decision over Rushda Mallick at middleweight in March this year, enters the rankings for the first time at #5.
